What is the Sealed Access System that enables online cleaning of systems?
The Sealed Access System (SAS), a patent pending online/off-line cleaning device, is used for the purpose of cleaning industrial systems while they are positively charged (in operation) or when they are in an off-line condition. The main purpose of the SAS is to maintain system pressure and to prevent materials within the system from coming out while the system is being cleansed. It has a connection for a vacuum truck if the material needs to be removed without being introduced to the ground or atmosphere. The SAS is designed to be used on any pipe with an interior diameter between 2 Inches, and 24 Inches. Due to the design, the SAS can be utilized in a host of industrial systems such as Storage Tanks, FGD Scrubber systems, Ash Hoppers, Air flow Fan systems etc. . The entire device is attached using cam-locks for easy install and removal of the SAS.
Where is the device and access methods currently being used?
The device is currently installed and is being used at the following:
- IMC Phosphates, New Wales, Florida - Implemented to relieve storage tank exit buildup (Hot Tap). The problem was that the pump feed lines from storage tanks full of various chemicals was getting plugged. We devised a method for adding a clean-out, using the SAS to clear the debris while online. Result, no downtime on tanks, 100% flow achieved.
- Cargil Fertilizer, Tampa Florida - We use the SAS to be able to do Hot Tap's at Cargil.
- Tampa Electric Corp. in Tampa Florida (TECO). Online cleaning of FGD Scrubber Sparger. The first off-line implementation was in 2000. The online cleaning process has been utilized since January of 2001. The First scrubber implementation is on the largest single loop wet flue gas de-sulfurization scrubber in the industry (850 MW -Wheelabrator designed scrubber at TECO Big ). TECO has since installed the device hookups on all of the other scrubbers (double loop wet FGD) in their system.
- Seminole Electrice Coop, Palatka, Florida - Online and Offline cleaning of FGD Scrubber Sparger. Online cleaning of the de-mister packing in the FGD scrubbers. Also applied to their waste-water transport line.
